NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - A Haitian national who pleaded guilty to dealing heroin in the greater Norwalk area for most of the past decade has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Charles Thelusma was sentenced Monday in federal court and has been detained without bond since his arrest in 2017.
The 44-year-old Thelusma pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute more than 2.2 pounds of heroin last summer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Dave Vatti said Thelusma was motivated purely by profit. His public defender says Thelusma lived in poverty for many years and avoided the use of violence.
